David Hibbard, a professional photographer and longtime Bay Area resident, snapped the shots below during a recent visit to Gazos Creek, just south of Pescadero. His photos capture the last of the vibrant coastal fall colors.
Several portions of Gazos Creek are protected by POST as part of the 5,638-acre Cloverdale Coastal Ranch.

There is a glorious window of time in the Bay Area, right around Thanksgiving, when autumn is on fire in these parts. New England gets all the glory, but for those 2-3 weeks here–when the ginkos turn canary yellow and the crepe myrtle and Chinese pistache trees ripen from ruby red to brilliant orange and ocher, I don’t miss those East Coast leaves at all. And then, with one big wind- and rainstorm, they are gone. Catch the show while you can.
