Back in August, I joined a team from Go Native out on Cloverdale Coastal Ranches, one of POST’s largest coastal properties. Go Native, a company focusing on habitat restoration, has helped POST with several projects in the last few years. With their help, we managed to restore an old livestock pond choked by vegetation that had created unhealthy conditions for two species that call this pond home: Endangered San Francisco garter snake and Threatened California red-legged frog. Along with establishing a better habitat for these reptiles, Go Native also repaired the dam on the property.
Here is a before shot of the pond:

If you drive by this property today, chances are you don’t know about the amount of work that went into making the land healthy and habitable. Stewardship efforts such as this pond restoration are a step towards achieving sustainability throughout the property. And, the effect is not only aesthetic; wildlife can make better use of a healthy property and native plants have the chance to thrive again without invasive competition.

Looks like you’re doing great work down there Jeff. Keep it up and keep in touch.
